Local and State Advocacy

Dallas Independent School District

As an advocate for Dallas ISD, Linda Cross ensures her students' artwork is represented through art contests and exhibitions at Texas Discovery Gardens, Texas Art Education Association,  Youth Art Month and local Congressional exhibitions.

Recently, her students artwork won awards in the Veteran's Day Art, Texas Discovery Gardens contests, and at annual TAEA-Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE).

Linda Cross also serves as a juror for TAEA VASE and Junior VASE Events.

Her students participate in face painting and serving the community at local school festivals in Dallas ISD.

Color Me Empowered​

As an advocate to connect the Visual Arts to the community, Linda Cross has assisted with Art Camps for Color Me Empowered. These camps help students to explore various art media, trends and styles through critical thinking and creating artwork. Students are encouraged to enter their artwork for competition at the State Fair of Texas-Creative Arts Exhibition.

National Advocacy

Congressional Art Exhibitions

In 2017, one of Linda Cross' students, Uriel Lopez, received the Grand Prize Award for Pete Sessions' Congressional Exhibition, juried by the Art Institute of Dallas.

Additionally, Uriel's trip to Washington D.C. to attend the National Congressional Art Exhibit,  June 2017, was provided by Southwest Airlines and The Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce. Uriel's artwork is currently on display at the United States Capitol Building, June 2017 - June 2018. 

International Advocacy

The Memory Project

Since 2014, Linda Cross has been a strong advocate of The Memory Project which allows high school students to create portraits as gifts to orphans around the world. Her students have created portraits to orphans recently in El Salvador, Peru, Tanzania and The Congo.
